Hammond Associates is pleased to announce the appointment of Carla McGuire, CFA, as the Director of Research, a newly created position for the company. Ms. McGuire joined Hammond Associates in March 2009 to lead the effort in enhancing Hammond’s External CIO Services. In addition to that role, she assumed the position of Director of Research in early October. She will be responsible for coordinating Hammond’s four research areas (capital markets, traditional securities, hedge funds and private markets).
As Director of Research, Ms. McGuire will augment the efforts of Anthony Brown, CFA and Hammond’s Chief Investment Officer, by coordinating and integrating the efforts of research with consulting.
“Carla will serve an integral role in developing strategies that implement the best ideas coming from our Chief Investment Officer,” said Russ LaMore, president of HammondAssociates. “We had planned this role for her when we hired her, but we wanted to wait a while until she got to know the organization. In addition to better integrating our research with our consulting advice, this move provides our External CIO Services group a structure that rivals most universities’ investment offices.”

Michael Pompian publishes new book
St. Louis, MO – June 12, 2009 -- Hammond Associates Institutional Fund Consultants, Inc. is pleased to announce that Michael Pompian, CFA, CFP, Director of Private Wealth Consulting has published a new book entitled “Advising Ultra-Affluent Clients and Family Offices”.
Prior to joining Hammond Associates, Pompian was a wealth management advisor with Merrill Lynch, a private banker with PNC Private Bank, and served on the investment staff of a family office. He is also the author of Behavioral Finance and Wealth Management (Wiley & Sons).

Carla McGuire Joins Hammond Associates, Will Continue as DePauw's Chief Investment Officer
DePauw University is expanding its relationship with Hammond Associates, a St. Louis-based firm which since 2005 has been consulting the University on a portion of its investment portfolio. Under the terms of the new agreement, DePauw's chief investment officer, Carla McGuire, will join Hammond Associates as Principal of Outsourced CIO Services. She will serve as CIO to DePauw and other endowment and foundation clients. DePauw President Brian W. Casey says that this expanded relationship will support the University's needs in these extraordinary times. "DePauw has had the benefit of Carla McGuire's good work for years as we sought to bring our investment profile into a more mature position. Through Carla we have already developed a strong relationship with Hammond. Through this new relationship, Carla and the Board of Trustee's Investment Committee will have access to much broader and deeper resources, improvements in efficiency, and a reduction in overall costs for DePauw."
Russ LaMore, president of Hammond Associates, is also excited about this opportunity. "We are fortunate to have an investment expert like Carla join our team. She augments our existing staff, several of whom have performed similar roles at other organizations. Carla has an interest in serving as a CIO for DePauw and a handful of other institutions, and this arrangement gives her the platform to do so. Carla McGuire became DePauw's chief investment officer in September 2003. She previously spent five years as the director of investments for the University of Chicago and prior to that spent 14 years as a portfolio manager for two Trust organizations: one in St. Louis and one in Cincinnati. McGuire holds a B.S. from Maryville University and an M.B.A. from St. Louis University. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the St. Louis Financial Analyst Society.

Hammond Associates has never been a customer of Madoff. Moreover, Hammond Associates has never invested with or recommended an investment with Madoff or any fund formed for the purpose of investing with Madoff. We believe Hammond Associates appears on this court filing solely because it received performance data from Madoff.
